Q: Are all the Chevrolet dealerships closing or just Bill Heard and Landmark?
I saw that Bill Heard and Landmark Chevrolet is going out of business. I did not purchase a vehicle with either dealerships, but I have a service contract that was initially purchased through Landmark Chevrolet. What will happen with my service contract? I'm assuming it will be honored among other Chevy dealerships if they remain open. If not, should I cancel my service contract?

Q: What will happen to Bill Heard Chevrolet Cars?
Now that Bill Heard Chevrolet has gone belly up, what happens to his vast inventory of new cars? Will they go back to GM? Will creditors (our government) have a fire sale? If so, when and where?

A: They will probably end up having some sort of deal where they wholesale the vehicles to another dealership so they can sell them. They will not go back to GM.

Hi everyone... I want to buy a car. Chevrolet Suburban from 1996 and it only has 99,000 miles. I do not know a lot about cars but do you think this is a good car, trust worthy or is it one of those models that will leave you in the midle of the highway? Also what about the pieces if they get broken, are they expensive to order?

A: As good as any other and if a 1/2 ton 2wd model parts are not the high but gas will kill you. With gas the way it is those should be dirt cheap. less than 2k at least rd

I was just wondering if Chevrolet Cobalts are girly cars. I am a man and I would like onw.

A: You have to be about 5'4" short or shorter to fit comfortably in a Cobalt. Which is the average height of a female here in the US. I sat in one last year and I had to tilt my head about 45 degrees to the side to sit in the car. Needless to say I did not rent that car. Rented a Hyundai Elantra. Really nice car. I am waiting for the 2009 Elantra Touring to hit the dealer's floors. BTW I am 6'1" tall.

Q: What wiring harness do I need for my 2003 Chevrolet S10 if I am installing a car deck.?
I am installing a JVC car deck, and connecting and amp and subs to it in my truck. It is a 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, 4 door fully loaded but no on star. What wiring harness do I need to do this so that my door chimes and air bags and stuff won't be bothered.

A: In an S-10, the door chime isn't generated by the factory radio (and the air bags aren't affected by removing the radio in any GM vehicle--imagine the lawsuits!). If you have the oversized double-DIN GM radio, use Metra's 70-2003 harness. Check to see if there's a wire in the factory plug that lines up with the red wire in the Metra harness. If there is, then you can just wire up the harness as usual; it should work fine. If there's no accessory wire in the factory plug, then you'll have to connect the red wire to a different key-switched power source. You should be able to find one in the fuse box pretty easily. A few of the later S-10 models used the data bus system to control the radio power, but none of them ever used the radio to generate the vehicle warning chimes. You can remove the stock radio and it won't affect any other vehicle systems. If your factory radio is a Bose model, you'll probably need a premium sound adapter to make the after-market deck work with your factory amp and speakers.

Q: updating/converting a 1956 Chevrolet Belaire 6 cylinder to a fuel injection system?
I would like to drive my old chevrolet's around more often I would like to know if there is a fuel injection conversion kit sold just for this application. Help the old cars out with their gasoholism? I'm thinking maybe a tbi system? It would be a perfect world if there is a big box you can order that just bolts on with few disturbances to its body (holes)

A: I own a shop, a drag car & truck, and what I think is this; I do a lot of this kind of work, and there are some kits you can get to make this transformation pretty easy. A couple of companies come to mind. First: You can get a complete kit from Edelbrock, that has everything you need to do this with. Second: A website to check out is: http://www.fuelairspark.com Both of these companies make a complete, out of the box bolt on upgrade that includes everything, but its not that cheap. Q: Which shoe on a Chevrolet S10 is the rear and which is the front?
I have a 1998 Chevrolet S10 rear wheel drive with drum brakes on the rear and disc in front. My truck recently failed inspection because I put the rear shoe in the front and the front shoe in the rear the mechanic said. I have taken off my shoes and I can't tell the difference. And I didn't take a picture before removing them. How can you tell which shoe belongs where since they will go on backwards (I assumed they would only go on one way)?

A: I own a shop, and have a lot of experience with this issue. First thing to do is remove the shoes from both rear wheels. Compare all of them. The shoes will look the same, but the difference will be the pad (not the shoe) attached to the shoe. If you have a long pad, and a short pad, then put the short pad towards the front of the vehicle, and the long towards the rear of the vehicle. I would go to a parts store, and confirm I had the correct shoes for the vehicle by looking at another box, and this is after making sure they gave you the right numbered box. Some vehicles have the same shoes front, and back on the rear wheels. Once you have them installed, rotate the adjuster with a screwdriver to make sure you hear them click. If not, then something isn't right. Look for the spring on the adjuster being on wrong, and causing the adjuster to sit too far out. Another thing is the tab that works the adjuster wheel sometimes will get worn to the point of not turning the adjuster wheel, and just slips right over it without turning it. Adjust the brakes to where you can get the drums on both wheels, and go work the emergency brake to center them up. Remove the drums one at a time, and adjust them until you have a small drag on the drums, and this is where you want to have them. If in doubt, go to the library, and pull a Chilton's Repair Manual, and you will see how it all goes. Also; It may be a good idea to bleed the brakes. One very common mistake is; Looking at the adjuster, you will see where the shoe fits into a slot in the end of it. Notice there is an angle (the shoe rides on) down inside the groove, and it can go either way. Once the shoes are in positon, and the springs are attached, these angles should now be in line with the angle on the shoe. If one end is one way, and the other end is the other way, then the shoes are not balanced, and the adjuster isn't against each shoe the same. This angle is there for a reason, and it's important the angle is turned the proper way. If it's not; then it needs to be turned so the shoe matches with the adjuster and it doesn't have more push on one shoe, than it does the other. Installing the adjusters, and springs are critical to the brakes working equal. Glad to help out, Good luck!!!

A: According to my NADA Guide, the "weight" of the truck is 3003. If your truck has the VIN plates on the door/cab pillar on the driver's door, the weight is also listed there, and it's also on the title that you -should- have gotten from the seller.

Q: Can 5 men and a dog ride comfortably in a Chevrolet TrailBlazer?
I'm renting a Chevrolet Trail Blazer for a camping trip this weekend. I need to fit 5 people + a golden retriever for a two hour car ride. Is it too much? Might also be a GMC Envoy, or Toyota Highlander.

A: No, you should be comfortable for a two hour ride. Chevrolet also makes a Trailblazer that has a third row of seating. You might check into renting one of those.

I'm looking into some cars, and I stumbled upon pictures of a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Sedan. I've seen a lot of stuff about it, but can't find anything about how much one would cost now a days.
