Q: Can I put any other kind of pcm in my 1999 Dodge Ram?
I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.9l and its my baby!!My pcm went out and nowhere. I mean NOWHERE has any even remotely close to me has a replacement. I am wondering if I can put another pcm from maybe a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9l temperarily while I save up the 250 dollar.
A: you need to go to advance auto parts and order you a new pcm for it and don't buy a used one for it ,it has to be exact on that one,no exceptions,advance auto parts has access to the exact replacement for it,i buy them all the time through them,unless you find one with the exact numbers its not going to work on that truck, i own two of them,a 99 and an 01 model,good luck.
Q: my 1999 dodge ram runs then it quites and you have to wait awhile before it will start back up?
its a 5.2 and sometimes it shuts off when i put it in gear.i have changed the fuel pump and the coil.some times it won't shut off until it gets hot
A: thats the coil or a relay causing that to happen to it,you can buy a new coil and it will still do this,another thing that will cause it is a bad crank sensor or the pick up in the distributor,the thing i find that gives the most problems is the coils,especially if you buy an after market one,you should be able to scan it and get a good trouble code form it that might help you on repairing it,if you don't get no trouble codes, run a pressure check on the fuel pump also i have seen bad pump relays cause this too happen,good luck on it.
Q: would a 1999 Dodge Ram be reliable to buy?
I'm 16, and I'm going to take the exam soon, but I'm also preparing for my first car purchase. At my local dealer, there is a used 99 Ram for sale that I can easily afford. dark blue, extended cab, etc. But I want a car that I won't need to take to the shop all the time. Is the 1999 Ram one of them, and if not would a Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra be more reliable?
A: Dodge trucks prior to 2003 are known for serious engine and transmission problems, expensive ones. The Chevy/GMC is a better choice. But that's just averages or statistics. There are thousands of Dodges that never had a serious problem and plenty of Chevys that fell apart. With any used car, particularly one 10 years old, the individual vehicle is more important than the brands reputation. Give the car a thorough inspection and keep your fingers crossed with anything you buy.

If i turn the a/c off and turn it back after about 5 seconds it starts to blow cold air.

Q: How to remove door panels off of a 1999 dodge ram 1500 quad cab?
i need help on removing the door panels on the front doors. i know where all the screws are. I take them out, but i dont know where the retaining clips are on the door so i dont know how to remove the door panel.any help is apreciated. and also on the drivers side is the automatic mirror adjuster and how do you remove it?again any help is apreciated.
A: the clips are around the edge of the door panel, if you can use a small screwdriver and pry one end loose you can use your fingers and get in under it and pull outwards on it and the clips will start releasing on it that will remove it,they also make a clip tool that will get in under those and make it easier to get them loose,some of them may break on you ,that you may not be able to stop it happens usually when removing those,but advance ot auto zone either one sells replacements for it,that should get the door panel off,there a lot of those all around the panel, so take your time with it or if you jerk in the wrong place you may break the door panel,good luck with it.
Q: What is the biggest size tire I can put on a 1999 Dodge Ram V8 Magnum engine without a lift or any scrapping?
I got 31's on my truck now with 16 inch rims I want to put the biggest size tire i can put on in front and back without a lift kit or any scrapping.

Q: Where to put a ground wire for a radio in a 1999 Dodge Ram?
There is no black ground wire coming from the vehicle and all the diagrams say to ground it on the chassis, but I don't know where to do this because everything inside the dash is plastic.
A: To a piece of metal attached to the frame. Do you have a spot under your dash where you can see other wires going into the engine? Add your wire there and attach it to the metal frame work around the engine mount.

If its by pulling out the headlight switch how will I know if theres power to the lights

to turn on the fog lights on a 99 dodge ram truck you need to turn on your head lights and then pull the switch and you will see the fog lights turn on . you should have a more light on the bottom. but if you want to know then turn them on like i said and then get out and look at the bumper of the truck where the fog lamps are located and you will see them on.

Q: Can my 1999 dodge ram 1500 extended cab short bed safely carry a slide in camper?
A: I wouldn't try it, a slide in would definitely overload the suspension on a 1500. I work with two gentleman that enjoy camping, one uses an '06 quad cab 3500 Cummins turbo diesel for his slide in and another uses a restified '77 crew cab camper special (9000 lb gross weight I think it is), 440 powered, for his slide in.

Perticularly if the male has been diagnosed with Bipolar and ADHD and just got the liscence 1 month before being put on the insurence papers. Also the if the Dodge Ram 1500 V8 Magnum Quad Cab has engine issues and still has $11,000 still needed to be payed on it if it madders.

Q: how many oxygen sensors does a 1999 dodge ram have and if you unhook one does it make the truck run rich?
I had new exhaust run on the truck today and was told it two sensors. The one that was in front of the converter was done away with but the one in front of the muffler was left the same. Would this make the truck run rich and if I reset the computer by unhooking the battery will it fix itself or will I have to find a way of installing the front one again even though now there is no converter?
A: they messed up man, when they done away with the one sensor ,it has to have both of them to work right,and the computer will not re-set its self either ,this will have to be totally re-done now to get the truck back right or it will continue to run rich and not get good mileage or perform good,that was a bad deal there,good luck with it.

Q: why won't the speedometer on my 1999 dodge ram diesel work?
the abs&brake light is on. the tripometer, odometer, outside temperature gauge and compass will not work.
A: You probably have a short - check your fuses, if your fuses are all ok then you need to take it to a mechanic, it could be a bad circuit board.
You can find the fuse locations in your owner's manual. The manual should also detail which one you need to pull and replace. It will probably be referred to as the "Instrument Cluster".

My dash is pretty well busted up. I got a replacement dash piece and I've taken off the trim from around the instrument cluster but I'm not sure how to remove the air bag cover?
