Q: Where can I find information on installing an air conditioner on a 1999 Ford Ranger?
I am having trouble locating information such as a guide for installation of an air conditioner for a 1999 Ford Ranger.
A: Are you trying to repair an existing A/C unit, or are you trying to install an A/C unit into a Ranger that didn't come with one?
Chilton ( http://www.chilton.cengage.com ) or Haynes ( http://www.haynes.com ) both have A/C books, but are not specific to one year that I know of. They may or may not have information on A/C stuff in the specific vehicle books.
You can also try the Ford website ( http://www.motorcraft.com ) and see if they have anything that can help you, but I doubt it.
Your going to need a Compressor, Dryer, Accumulator, Condenser, hoses, and wiring (along with relays and fuses), if you are trying to add an A/C unit to a truck that didn't' come with one. If this is what you are trying to do, the best thing to do is to go to a junkyard and take pictures of the existing setup ('98 -2000 are all the same) to give you reference points to what you need. When your done, take all the electrical from that truck to swap into yours.
If you are not familiar with how A/C units work in vehicles, I would leave it to someone who does. You can buy all the parts (it will be cheaper), then have them install them and charge the system. They may or may not do the electrical, as that is a little more tricky.

Its a 1999 ford ranger 4x4. It reads no oil pressure except when i change the oil then it will drop again after a while. I have looked for leaking but see none? Could this be the oil screen? Or what?

A: You need to lubricate your door locks with graphite. You can buy the stuff at any auto parts store for only a couple bucks. Just sprinkle some on your key, and stick it in the keyhole. You might have keep doing this for a few minutes, but I guarantee it will fix your problem.

Many are led to believe that the design was for more horse power. The power increased significantly from the single plug system, but as mentioned already, only to reduce emissions. The 4.0L overhead camshaft and the 3.0L overhead valve pushrod engine still use 1 plug per cylinder.

A: It is impossible to say how much longer it will go. Assuming you engine is doing its job completely right and your transmission is working good then. when you have 2 or 3 major problems within a year then it might be time to cut your losses. i would say it will last as long as you make it last, but when it starts costing more to fix than its worth sell trade or part it out

A: Off of the bumper hitch, 2000 pounds with a max 200 pound tongue weight. Trailer brakes are handy too, since the ranger brakes are rather small.
My 2000 4x4 with a 3.0 and automatic gets 18-19 mpg on a good day. You might get around 21-23 with a 2 wd.
Q: What is the speed limiter in a 1999 Ford Ranger set to?
Mind you I have the absolute bare bones one, no tach, and hardly anything else. My speedometer never goes past 75, but I don't know if that's what the limiter is set to or if my speedometer is just messed up. Any help would be great.

A: You didn't mention which engine so I'll throw this out to give you an idea. I have a 2003 Ranger Edge with a 3.0L/automatic and my speed limiter kicks in at 90MPH. Trucks are not meant to go fast and shouldn't. The speed limiter is set for the safety rating of the tires your truck came with from the factory.
If you were carrying a heavy load and going high speed you could have a blowout that will make you lose control and wreck.
No speed limiter? WTF?! Thumbs down for that one.
Q: How to fix speedometer dim light in 1999 Ford Ranger?
Theres light for 0-40mph and 90-120mph but in between those there is no light. I don't know why only that part of the dim went out? The fuel guauge is lit up perfectly as well as the temp and battery/oil..I can't remember what is on the other side. Can you help me try to fix this so I don't have to pay a bunch to a mechanic? Thank you in advance.
