Q: What is the best way to boost performance and horse power on my 2001 ford f-150?
I have a 2001 Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4 xlt with a triton 5.4 v8 in it and i was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to boost performance and horse power. thanks!
A: Both those guys are idiots. You have a 5.4 which is an excellent platform. Start by figuring out exactly how much power you would like to make, what your going to be using it for (daily driver, racing ). If you would just like a little more power start out by getting a nice exhaust system(headers, catback) then you can move right into changing the throttle body mass airflow sensor plenum cold air intake a custom tune different rear end gear ratios. For big power and best bang for your buck i recommend a nice supercharger set up nitrous or a turbo kit. You could also go with a NA setup nice heads and cams. If you just want to spend a little money start out with a cold air intake , underdrive pullys , and a full exhuast.

A: I believe it is an internal oring and you may need to replace the mount which should solve the problem, this is a really good question for the parts counter at a dealer, you might even want to go look at the one in the box at the dealer, because then you will know for sure what you need to do, mine had an o ring, my mechanic just replace the whole mount, which was pretty inexpensive, but it was a different year than yours so do a little more research figure out what is the best option, the parts guys at ford can help good luck hope this helps

I use the truck on a farm and get in and out constantly, leaving the door open.
A: you need to disconnect the key-in switch on the key cylinder. just remove the plastic covers on the steering column, and you will see the 2 wire switch on the cyl. the dinger box does more than just that, and the fuse controls more circuits than just the ding circuit.

A: it should come out and then you can try to jump it, but if you look close around by the sunroof most have a manual way of closing it.

A: You need a test light, push the button in the closed direction, and check for power to the motor. If it is getting power you will need to replace the motor. If no power then you will need a wiring diagram to trace back to where the power interuption is. Also check all fuses in cab and under hood. check all your acessories to make sure nothing else has lost power. T

A: The packages were work truck,XL,XLT,and Lariat
Basically XL was base model with crank windows , no power anything.. basic truck
Work truck was a dechromed XL truck made for work
Larait was top of the line.. meaning leather, Electronic a/c.. basically top of the line.
XLT was mid line truck... cloth interior, power windows and door locks, usually carpeted (you could get an option to have rubber floors)
I couldn't find a website to help you, but hopefully this gives an idea.. if not email any other question you have.

A: you can purchase a programmer for 3 to 4 hundred dollars that will make a world of difference in horsepower, they are great because it is easy to run your factory settings for fuel economy but it is easy to change settings to gain up to 30 hp, honestly thats pretty cheap horsepower

A: Seeing as your factory radio is only din and a half, if you are looking to install double din, the installation costs alone will be OMG expensive (due to the customization involved).
