Q: What would be a good roof rack for a 2001 Ford Ranger (Reg. size) with a cap?
My husbands birthday is coming up and I know that he has been wanting a Roof rack for his truck (2001 Ford Ranger) for sometime now (for canoes, kayaks etc.) He has a cap on the back which usually stays on so I think he would want one for on top of it. I know nothing about vehicles. Any suggestions on what type of roof rack or a specfic one I should get would be helpful! Thanks!

Q: Does anybody no how to change a seatbelt in a 2001 ford ranger?
I am having a problem with removing the panel to get to the seatbelt in my 2001 ranger. I was able to locate a used seatbelt from a local salvage yard, Now I can not get the panel off to change out the belt. Does anyone have any advise on how to pop out the pushpins that hold the panel in place?
A: Those are probably a push rivet. You will have to pull up the center post to release the pin. use a small flatblade screwdriver to pry up the center of the fastener. That will release the fastener to get the panel off.
You will need a T30 torx blade to remove the seatbelt bolt.
Q: Can you put a 2001 ford ranger front on a 1996 ford ranger?
A friend of mine has a 1996 ford ranger with a 1998 ford ranger front end, he said they lined up perfectly, So i am wondering if the 2001 ford ranger's front end will fit onto my frame?
A: It should fit, the ranger hasn't changed alot as far as the chassis go.
Q: Can I Install at 8 inch Subwoofers in my 2001 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger with everything stock. So the sound system is horrible, I cannot hear any bass.
So my friend is giving away his 8 inch Subwoofer and I was wondering if I can install it. He said I might need an Amp but I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars getting it.
I think It will work if I disconnect one of the speakers from the back seat and hook it to the subwoofers. I have 4 speakers in my truck.
A: Yeah that's what I did. Just remove one of the speakers from behind the seat and you'll have enough room to stall even a 12" slim style woofer in a slim style box. I recommend Powerbass for an amp since it is good sounding and affordable.
Q: How do I Turn off my dome lights on my 2001 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger and i want to know how to turn off the dome lights. i know about the wheel next to the steering wheel. but it doesn't click when i roll it towards the floor. does the door have to be closed? or is there another button to turn if off altogether? Please be specific
A: it might just be that the switch is broken because if u have that turned off and the door closed and the light isnt going off then most likly the switch is broken, new fords have that problem, i suggest just take out the bulbs till u get the new switch and then once the new switch is installed put the bulbs back in

i just got a 2001 ford ranger its a 2.3L, 5 speed, 2WD, and completly stock. what can i do to it to make it sound and look better ? exhaust ? tires ? headlights ? anything ?

If your smart youl get good products at cheap prices, and if your not smart your gona get f'd up for a good price. 2.3L is a small engine umm...I'm checking now and Im seeing that the 2001 didnt come with the 2.3 the 02 did ...its your car i might be wrong...umm seriously I'd probably just throw two stripes on there and xenon hid lights...no need for tires or suspen. its not made for offroad. don't forget CAI(cold air intake), or just find a K&N drop in filter...let me know if you need anything
Q: Transmission Solenoid Problem 2001 Ford Ranger with Automatic Transmission?
This morning my 01 Ford Ranger would not move from a stoplight. The engine would rev, but not move. Brought it to the mechanic and he says it may be the Transmission solenoid. If it is not that, he said it may be the transmission itself. If the solenoid is bad, what does that mean? Does this mean my transmission is going out?
A: Trans is bad, it would move if the soilnoid went bad, they go into a limp-in mode if there is an electrial fault. Make sure the fluid is full

i looked all on the internet and the cheapest is 74. i found one for 34 then went to cheak out and shipping bumped it uo to 84. woo huh. well id appreachate it if you guys would help me out with this. i need cheap 2001 ford ranger chrome bar grille. thankyou!!
A: check out www.car-part.com for a used one in your area. Most of the cheap ones that you find online are aftermarket knock offs that do not fit the car very well.
Q: My 2001 ford ranger has heat comming from the dash and floor vents but not the defroster?
I have tried all the vacum lines on the selector switch and they seem to be working but when I switch to defrost air only comes from the dash and floor vents
does the whole dash have to be removed?
A: you have a series of door's behind dash that operate where the heat goe's depending where you want it to.it is run by vacum so there's a problem with a door that might be broken had a 2000 ranger that did same thing and that's what had to be replaced

Is $5000 for a 2001 Ford Ranger with 120,000 miles on it a good deal?
A: Have you reviewed Consumer Reports used car history? The bed size is worthless. The MPG is terrible considering how small the truck is. They cannot take any kind of decent load weight without seriously compressing the springs. Ford builds a very good full size truck but they build a terrible small truck as does General Motors. If you really want a truck get an F150. If you really want a smaller truck, look at the Dodge Dakota.
Q: my 2001 ford ranger feel like the tranny is slipping going 70 mph only. whats up with it?
well my ford ranger is having problems with the gears. only when im going 70 and over the car starts shaking like its slipping a gear but i dont see how when it doesnt do it under 70. i had a tune up very recently but it still does it. i was thinking maybe the fuel pump but who knows.......has anyone had this problem?
A: If it feels like it is slipping a gear, either you are pushing it to hard, and not giving it time to shift, or your transmission needs fluid. Its possible your transmission is going out if you are pushing it to hard. Take it in and have it checked out. I have a 2003 Ranger, and never had a problem like that with it.
Q: How much will it cost to replace the water pump on a 2001 Ford Ranger?
So I have a pretty good size leak in either my water pump, my radiator, or somewhere in between. My friend looked at it and said that he is pretty sure its the water pump. I heard that the pump its self is about $70, but I'm still wandering about labor to install it. If someone could give me a rough estimate, that would be great!
A: Labor depends on the shop you go to. But it shouldnt exceed $250-300 with labor. If your married, i suggest buying a manual and making ur hubby do it.
Q: How to change a fuel filter for a 2001 Ford Ranger?
I was trying to disconnect the existing fuel filter and have no idea as to how it is done. I tried prying it but nothing happened. I tried with a standard screwdriver to release the hoses but nothing.
Do I need a special tool to remove the 3 hoses from the filter?

The air blows cold, but will only come out of the defrost vents no matter what option I turn the knob to. What kind of problem am I looking for and where would I begin to look. Any help is good help at this point.
A: Most likely you have a vacuum leak or a faulty selector switch. The switch could be leaking away your vacuum. Ford is designrd to default to the defroster when the selector switch fails.

A: The Ford tech is correct in Canada, In the US it's 4 1/2 qts of 5w20 oil
