Q: About how much does it cost to have a radiator flushed and the thermostat replaced on a 2004 Ford Mustang?
My car overheated and I was told these are two things that might need to be done to my car. I have no idea and I want to be prepared before I take it in to a mechanic. I have both a new alternator and water pump as my car has over 170000 miles on it.
A: For both....a shop is probably going to get you for @ $75- $100
They both are really simple procedures in the automotive world.
I suggest you look up a local person on Craigslist.com and see if they will do it cheaper.
The radiator engine flush can be done with a garden hose in your front yard.
Heat the engine up a bit and then shut it down
Disconnect the top radiator hose from the radiator side.
wire the end of the hose out of the way. (hot water will be pouring out )
crank the engine
Hold a water hose in the radiator hole with the engine running ( at the same place you took the hose off of)
the water will run through the radiator .......through the engine...and the hot water will pour out on the ground from the end of the disconnected top radiator hose.
Once it runs clear......shut it down......open up the drains on the radiator to drain out the water and fill it back up with coolant mix.
The shops down here charge $60 just for the coolant flush alone.....and thats how it's done

Is there a trick?? Please give specifics...I understand how to remove a fuel filter, but I am struggling with THIS MODEL car. Please help! :)

Q: Brake light in dash panel goes on and off while shifting in my 2004 Ford Mustang?
I recently noticed that every once and a while while I shift gears, the brake light in the dash panel goes on and then off in a couple seconds. The brake is clearly not on, but this happens. Any ideas on what this is? Or how to remedy this?
It's a 2004 Ford Mustang convertible pony edition. Not a GT or anything fancy. Bought last memorial day '07 from a Ford Dealership.
A: check your fluid level...when you shift the fluid "sloshes" around ...if its not full the sensor could be giving false reads
Q: What is the stock 0 to 60 mph time of 2004 ford mustang gt with automatic transmission ?
A: Probably in the 5.8-6.1 second range with an auto trans. Dont worry if thats what you have, once you start getting more horses out of the engine it will benifit you. Manuals are harder for most people to shift at higher hp. shift kits are available all over the internet to make your shift firmer which can really improve your tranny's shift time which will give you better 0-60 times. :)
Q: How much do you think insurance will cost for a 2003/2004 Ford Mustang?
I'm 18 1/2 and have a clean driving record (no tickets, nothing, have been driving since I turned 16) and I know I could check online but I don't want to put my information over the internet. Any help would be appreciated.
Southern California; preferibly a V8 but if it's a huge difference then a V6
A: Dont be all weird about the internet situation comparing insurance is the best way to do it and since you already have all the info you need like what type of car your age and all that other good stuff you would need to get a quote . . . you can get free quotes at websites like http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com or even http://www.CheapInsuranceFREEQuotes.com
Q: Looking at a 2004 Ford Mustang and need information?
I went to a local dealership the other day and found a white 2004 ford mustang. What was surprising was it only had around 50k miles and was only selling for 7000. Is this to good to be true? I would get a carfax report but my mom refuses to put her credit card number on internet so if someone could check it for me it would be very appreciated. 1FAFP40494F115818
A: I'm sorry, but, we can't provide you with the Carfax report... at least not legally.
Even those that have "unlimited" Carfax & Autocheck accounts can ONLY use those accounts "personally".
It would be against their Terms of Service to run the VIN for you.
Excerpt from Carfax legal disclaimer:
"CARFAX and its affiliates and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark and other applicable intellectual property laws. You may not modify, publish, TRANSMIT, display, participate in the transfer or sale, create derivative works, or in any way exploit any of the Content, in whole or in part. "
I don't mean this disrespectfully, but even DEALERS have to pay for Carfax & Autocheck full reports.
***************
You should ask the SELLER of this vehicle to provide the reports,
If there is nothing to hide, the seller can & should run the report, make it available to potential buyers, & absorb the fee.
***************
I/We consider that a cost of doing business & it protects BOTH the buyer & seller.
Carfax & AutoCheck companies are NOT non-profit organizations. They charge for their research results & rightly so....They do not allow paying users to run results for non-paying users.
AGAIN- no disrespect intended!
They just don't allow it.
And a person could get in trouble (legally) for doing it for you.
(& they could get in trouble with Yahoo! for posting that which is illegal to post.)
I am sorry.
P.S.
Don't forget to ask the SELLER for a copy of the full report!
====================
You can also check at Kelly Blue Books website to see if this price is a fair offer.
http://www.kbb.com/
====================
Regardless of the history & the price, you should also ask the dealership if you can take the vehicle to your own mechanic for an inspection.
A certified mechanic can look it over for you. They will charge a fee for this, but a small fee can save you thousands if he/she finds anything that is detrimental. Use the information from the mechanic to justify the price. If he/she finds problems, ask for a discount to cover repairs. If he/she finds no problems, then you will know that the price offered (assuming it is in the ranges that KBB has quoted) is fair and reasonable.
I hope this helps.
Q: Can I (and how much would it cost) to go from an automatic to a manual transmission on a 2004 ford mustang?
Shes a 2004 3.9L with almost 75,000 miles on it. i got her for $5500 with 69000 miles and haven't had any trouble. i was just curious about changing or converting the transmission because i miss my old standard and it would definitely save gas. but if it costs me an arm and a leg then it wont really matter
A: LeAnne is right.
It will cost FAR more than it is worth to do this. If you can find all the parts at a salvage yard and do the work yourself, it MAY be worth the time/moeny, but even then, its probably negligible. I'd say keep it automatic or sell it and get another manual.
Hope this helps, Good Luck!
Q: What would you recomment me to buy a 2004 Ford Mustang or a Brand New V6 Sedan Altima ?
I am so confused i want to own a sedan sports car and a 4weel which is a FJ Cruiser... if you can advice me please help me :)
A: i advice you too typee more bettter
Q: How can i make my 1999 ford mustang v6 look like 2004 ford mustang GT?
I want to make my 99 v6 look like a GT. The main thing I want is GT hood scoop. Do I have to buy a new hood or can I get the scoop installed? Also, i want fog lights and a differernt spoiler
A: Fairly easy. Just check into the loads of aftermarket companies for most of these. California Mustang, Dallas Mustang, Latemodel Restoration Supply, Mustang Unlimited, and C.J. Pony Parts are just a few. You can order the scoop seperate. You would just lay a template (that should come with it) on the hood, mark, drill holes in the hood, and apply. As for everything else, you can get the side scoops seperate as well, you'll need the 01-04 Headlights (they are smoked and look good), as well as fog lights (if you didn't get the premium package), GT rear bumper (for the dual exhaust) a y-pipe (turns single exhaust into dual) GT take off exhaust or any other exhaust. And GT rims. I might be missing a thing or two, but you will find this in one of the catalogs listed, and they are free to order from their websites!
Q: How is a 2004 ford mustang hold up in the long run and would it be a good car to buy used?
money is an opiton should be aforadable with low mileage
A: As long as you keep tight with the maintenance schedule, Mustangs are very dependable cars. You will hear random horror stories about people buying used ones that have not been taken care of, but if you can find one that you trust, for the most part Mustangs don't have any major problems that I have experienced.
Q: What is that extra button on the shifter of my 2004 ford mustang?
A: Turns overdrive on/off.
or in other words stops the car from using 4th gear
Q: Does every 1999-2004 ford mustang saleen have a supercharger?
From the factory?
A: NO, you can obtain all the basic data - inlcuding engine stats on all mustangs and mustang special editions here-along with VIN decoder in the event you want to insure the car you are looking at is not a "copycat" ...necessary for saleens and 03/04 cobras

Q: how much would it cost to replace deployed airbags in a 2004 ford mustang?
A: Professional is recommended and with Ford new.. about $2000+
Drivers airbag is $700 roughly
Passenger side airbag is $700 roughly
The module that powers the bags has to be replaced at $155
Then both front seat belts (have automatic tensioners in them that explode in a accident) about $80/piece
and the clocksping at $40
So that's about $1800 in parts and will require a ford dealer to repair the module so look at about $300 labor or so
Q: When I accelerate my stereo in Ford Mustang 2004 makes a weird noise?
What could be the problem? It is loud sometimes but other times I can barely hear it. Usually happens when I am driving like 10-30 mph.
A: sounds like ignition noises migrating through the speakers. need to install resister spark plugs or a noise supressor in the coil wire, or the radio is going bad
