Q: what would cause my 1990 Honda Accord to not start?
ok i have a 1990 honda accord and i can charge the battery and the next day my car will not start. i have toggle switch under my stirring column and it was to by pass something but not to sure what. but if you don't turn the switch on the car will not turn over or anything and too its like there is power somewhere that is draining the battery

A: First check the battery terminals if loose and corroded. If still draining your battery, i think your battery is dead already, wont accept and loosing charges already. Check also your alternator if working properly. Hope this help!

Q: How do you locate the vehicle speed sensor on a 1990 Honda accord?
My speedometer is not functioning. My Haynes manual shows that it has an electric speed sensor. Searched online and found that it could be two different types. Need to locate and remove so I can order the correct part. THANK YOU!

A: hi there. it is located on the passenger side of the vehicle. pop the hood and stand against passenger fender and look into engine bay. look to the back against the firewall behind the engine. you should see the sender on top of the transmission with a plug connected to it horizontal. you will need a small 10 mm socket with either a small extension or a very long one. after you remove the bolt, pull the sender straight upwards. do not lose the tang that goes between the gear and sender! i hope this helps. Good Luck!

Q: How do I replace the power steering main pressure hose in a 1990 Honda Accord?
What tools will I need to replace the main powersteering pressure hose and what are the steps to replace it? I am not a mechanic but I am familiar with changing oil for my car, replacing radiator fan, replacing thermostat, replacing fuel filter, replacing air filter, etc. With my level of expertise, how much more difficult is it to replace the main pressure hose for the powersteering? Do I have to drain the fluid first? Should I wrap up the alternator to avoid spills into it? etc.

A: the only special tools you'll need is a 14mm flare nut wrench. start by draining the fluid. You do this by removing the return hose from the power steering reservoir (the hose that does not go to the power steering pump) and place the end into a suitable container such as an old 2 litre soda bottle. have someone hold the bottle out of the way from the engine drive belts fo that it is at or below the level of the power steering reservir. Remove the cap from the power steering reservoir. Then start the engine and slowly turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and hold it there for the count of 5. Then slowly turn it fully to the other side and hold it. Do this three or four times and the fluid will have been pumped out of the system. Stop as soon as the fluid flow becomes slight or stops so that you don't damage the pump. Then you can remove the pressure line from the back of the power steering pump. it has a special banjo fitting but no special tool is required to remove the nut. I think its probably a 10 mm but I'm not sure. with the hose removed from the pump end, raise the front of the car up. you'll have to get under the car and locate the steering gear. It will be attached to the rear engine bulkhead and have four steel lines going into the control valve. The pressure line has a 14 mm nut. the return line has a 17mm nut. the other two lines are for the power steering cooler. If the cooler lines are the same as the pressure line you'll have to figure out which line is the pressure line by following the hose back from the pump. use the flare nut wrench so that you don't damage the fitting. Once you break it loose you can usually remove the fitting by hand and then remove the hose. I recommend wearing safety glasses because there may be residual fluid that comes out and you don't want to get that in your eyes. replace the hose by routing the hose between the pump and the steering gear, then threading in the fitting to the steering rack first then tightening the fitting with the flare nut wrench. then connect the steering hose to the pump end using the special bolt that you removed earlier. With the hose in place, reconnect the return hose to the reservoir, fill the reservoir with fluid and bleed the air out of the system by starting the engine and following the same procedure you used to remove the fluid from the system at the start. top off the fluid level to the full mark, and check for leaks. If no leaks, then your done. As long as you have the right tools and some patience you should be able to do this. hope that answers your questions

Q: How Do I Flush My 1990 Honda Accord?
The Car has been sitting just not being touched for a long time. It has been worked on before all it need is to be flushed, steam cleaned, and motor mounts added. If this something i can do on my own or should i take the car to a shop?

A: The flushing and mounts can be on your own, but for the mounts they can be kind of difficult if you don't know what your doing. As for the flushing should be pretty easy to do.

Q: does anyone know how to install an overhead monitor in a 1990 honda accord?
i have a mobile dvd player, i just need to know where the sound will come from

A: It depends on the monitor. Some overhead units have small built-in speakers. Others have built-in FM modulators so you can tune in the movie sound on your radio station; these commonly produce poor sound quality. Most have audio output jacks, so you could run audio cables from the monitor into your deck's auxiliary input, if equipped. Most also have infrared headphone transmitters, so rear seat passengers can listen with wireless headphones.

Q: does anyone know what could be wrong with my 1990 honda accord?
the car is a smooth runner but recently i've noticed some kind of wobbly movement at the front. my drive shaft, cup, upper arm tie rod, stabilizers have been recently replaced and the tyres are balanced and aligned. the car is auto trans. a friend says the gearbox is bad at the point where it connects with the shaft cup. i do not think i can afford such costly repairs so i'd like to see similar experiences and solutions. i also have four new tyres

A: That'sa tough one without seeing the car. I'm going to guess that this wobbly feeling only happens at high speeds, and your two front tires are not balanced, or one of them has lost a lead balancing weight? Your car is 16 years old. Perhaps also, one shock absorber is not doing it's job. do you feel you always have to correct the steering as you drive straight? I'll look here later for your updated info.....thanks.

Q: What does the green "s" light under the gas gadge in a 1990 Honda Accord mean?
This green "s" light has come on the past few days in my car. Now my steering wheel is jerking when I try to turn after it's been parked while I am at work. & It revs even when I'm not touching the gas pedal! What is the world is wrong with my stupid car?

A: I believe that light is for "sport mode" There should be a button on the shifter that turns it on and off. It sounds like you may have issues with the transmission and or engine computer. good luck.

Q: what would cause the speedometer on a 1990 honda accord ex to stop working?
?what may cause the reverse light to stop working on the same car

A: Hmm look in the owners manual it may be a fuse as the Speedo is electric and that may answer your problem BUT if your speedo fuse and back up fuse is good it may be the speedo head or the sending unit on the tranny the reverse lights are run off a swich on the shifter if a manual and on the tranny case if an auto...... Hmm again you may have kicked something up and just accidentally disconnected them at the tranny,,,,,, last time you were off road in the Honda.... JK.. : )

Q: 1990 Honda accord, Starting and it is cold out the run idles high and drops low 2 high sorta surging. Help?
The idle runs high, 2500+ at first and surges in reverse dropping and then rising every half a sec or so. Once it warms up it runs fine at a low normal idle. I have no ides what to look for. Thank you !

A: Sounds like a vacuum leak. Maybe intake manifold. If its accessable, to check your intake use a spray bottle of water and when car is cold and running spray water on the intake where it meets the head of the car. soak each tunnel pretty good. If the manifold is leaking, it will pull in the water and you will hear a difference in the running of the engine. Its an old school way of doin it but I have done it to many of vehicles including tractors. Another thing comes to mind. My cavalier sor of did that same thing and it ended up being the spark plugs. It dawned on me that I had never changed the plugs in 130,000 miles. changed them and viola! ran beautiful.

Q: How do you change a burnt out bulb in the headlight of a 1990 honda accord?

A: open the hood. in the back of each headlight is a plug. twist that plug out, inside of there is the bulb. replace that and twist it back into the back of the headlight.

Q: My 1990 Honda Accord LX will not pull up a hill fast enough. What seem to be the problem.?
I think the problem seems to be the engine. When I'm driving on the road the car is in normal speed, then it just drops down and makes me have to step on gas a little bit harder.

A: It's just what happens in a car with only 125hp that weighs over 2800lbs. The engine must work harder to pull the weight up hill so there is a loss in power and torque. The engines also pretty old so after all these years it's not gonna be as strong as it once was.

Q: 1990 honda accord with a flashing green light that comes some of the time and then check engine light?
In my accord the green light flashes on and off then quits but when it is flashing car skip gears when its not flashing runs great. just does it every now and then while driving it. then the check engine light also comes on after a while when light is flashing what could this be or how can I fix it. the car is for my son that needs a little tlc (first car) or is it worth fixing.

A: YOU CAN CHECK THE COMPUTER FOR A STORED CODE. PULL BACK THE CARPET ON THE PASS. SIDE FLOOR BOARD, UNDER THE DASH. IT SHOULD HAVE A RED L.E.D. LIGHT ON TOP OF THE COMPUTER. IF IT FLASHES A CODE WITH THE IGN. ON THEN YOU CAN MATCH IT UP TO A HAYNES BOOK. YES, IT IS WORTH FIXING THOSE ARE GOOD CARS!!!

Q: where is the thermostat in a 1990 honda accord coupe?
or do you know a website that would have a picture showing where it would be at. i already checked the top hose from the radiator to the engine and i didnt find a thermostat. infact, it didnt look like it would even house one.

A: Look in your owner manual if you dont have one buy one cheap on ebay. lol

Q: Is there any connection between the horn circuit and the tailight circuit on a 1990 honda accord?

A: No

Q: 1990 honda accord. trans will go into each gear at a stand still. 30 sec later there is nothing in all gears?
It will go into reverse and drive but after a few secs its like its in all neutral, nothing in all gears. Rev the engine in gear and nothing. Let it sit for a few minutes and it does the same thing all over again. It has fluid. Im trying to see if its something simple or get any ideas to what could be causing this before I replace the trans.

A: bands need ajusting or your computer is stuffed
