Q: how do you disconnect a factory alarm of a 2000 honda accord ex coupe?
2000 honda accord factory alarm goes off at random times for no reason. Need to figure out how to fix the problem. Dealer says there is nothing they can do. Really need to fix the issue since nothing else is wrong with the car.
A: Your factory alarm sensitivity is just set too high. You can turn it down and eliminate the problem while still keeping the alarm.
just read through this thread, mainly the last page.

Q: cheapest way to fix a slip 2000 honda accord?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4dr Auto, Its slipping. Is there any reasonable way to fix the problem or way to keep it from getting worst, besides getting another transmission. Please help me?
A: you'll have to get the transmission fixed because there is no easy way to fix it at the moment. there is no tranny filter to replace and because 98-02 accord transmissions are so sensitive, adding anything but honda ATF can be harmful. basically, you'll have to take it to a shop to get rebuilt. One way to prevent it from failing again is to get a truck size transmission cooler.

im looking for a 2000 honda accord coupe with the v6...i have liked this car for a while now and i cant find one...anyone know where i can find one in good condition?
A: This is a question and answer website not a i'm lazy find a car for me website. Go to craigslist or auto trader or your local newspaper. Find it yourself.
Q: What model is my 2000 Honda Accord coupe?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord, the owner's manual was missing when I got it. It's a coupe with a four cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. I tried reading blogs about it, but there are LX, EX and DX models of the Accord and I want to know which one I have.
A: need more info.
does it have alloy wheels? Sun roof? all wheel disc brakes? leather interior?
if it's got a few of those it's probably an ex, they usually have sun roofs. if not it's an lx. and if you have hand crank windows and no ac then it's a dx
Q: cost of replacing timing belt for 2000 honda accord?
My 2000 Honda Accord V6 has 84k miles on it, my Honda Dealer says i needed to replace timing belt and water pump, price quote for replacing belt and pump is $600 from the dealer. What're your suggestions to get timing belt and water pump replaced for a lower price than the dealer.
Thanks for your suggestions
A: Honda maintenance calls for replacing the timing belt at 105k OR 7 years whichever comes first. With the timing belt, I would recommend replacing the water pump. I will not tell you how many times I have seen a customer replace just the timing belt and have the water pump go out in as little as 5000 miles and destroy the belt as well. Often, the belt shows no sign of wear, no cracks or anything before they break. Usually with this price, you get the drive belts replaced as well. Honda also has an intermittent engine which means if either the timing belt or water pump go bad, you can damage the engine. The advantage to having the dealer do the work is that it will be done correctly and done with quality parts.
Also, that $600.00 should include the timing belt tensioner, (bearing and pully) new front main oil seal, plus about 8 other seals(little ones on the cam shaft ends valve cover, seal around each spark plug, and the timing cover seal) - false
That price is the labor, timing belt, water pump, drive belt, and crank and cam seals. Tensioner is extra if needed. The valve covers are not removed on this engine so it doesn't come with valve cover gaskets or spark plug tube seals. Timing cover seals are seldomly replaced on this engine as well.
Q: How to change a distributor on a 2000 Honda Accord? What part fo i need to buy?
My father that is in California, and me in North Carolina said "the electrical distributor burn out, you need to buy the whole part, or buy the pill (don't know what he meant by that) that goes in it to get it fix" !
A: Sounds like your car was diagnosed by a Doctor, not a mechanic! Take the vehicle to the dealer so it gets fixed, not operated on.
Q: How much should it cost to fix or replace radiator leak on a 2000 Honda Accord?
I had my car in for rep[lacing the starter and they told me that my radiator is leaking and needs to be replaced.
They quoted me a price of $380 for parts and labor. $191 for radiator, $20 for cap and $170 for labor. Is this reasonable
A: Yes estimate is pretty close ,you could save some money pretty easy to pull out ,could save you 170.00 most radiator shops would come and get and returned repaired just reinstall and fill.
Q: Does anyone know where to locate the coolant temperature sensor on a 2000 Honda Accord with a V6 Engine?
Thanks everyone....
Headed back outside to search for this.
Frankie, I found 2 and you are right, it is that 3rd sensor I am trying to locate. The only thing is that there is no distributor, only ignition coils.
A: Which one are you looking for? There are 3 sensors/switches. There is a sensor that sends a signal to your temp guage (Right on the passenger side of the head below the distributor) which is probably the one you're wanting. There's also a switch that controls your cooling fan and also one at your thermostat housing.
Q: I have a 2000 honda accord sedan automatic tranny i wud like to know what will happen if the clutch runs out?
how would the car operate will it jerk sometimes?
the car is been running 95,000 km... do i need to replace the clutch so that the power will be stronger? the shifting is ok but sometimes it jerks a bit...
My car is 4cylinder 2.0 engine
A: The 98-02 Automatic Accord's are notorious for having transmission problems, along with the 97-01 automatic Prelude's & some other older Honda/Acura models. If it starts jerking, you need to get that fluid check ASAP to minimize damage (if it isnt already damaged) and get that checked out. Make sure the fluid level is correct, and make sure it is a light reddish color, it should not be really dark, if it is a really dark red or closer to black color, then something internal is going on and your going to need to replace that transmission in the near future most likely. With the model of Honda and year you have I wouldn't be surprised though if the transmission is just dying on you, had a 98 Accord & 02 Accord and both had to have a rebuilt transmission @ ~100,000 miles. The V6 models are affected a lot more than the 4cyl's apparently, but the 4cyl models are affected too. (Both of mine were 4 cyl)

Q: Why does my 2000 honda accord v6 turn off if i dont press the gas?
the car will run great at higher speeds but when i come to a stop the car turns off.
A: check your vaccum lines, check what your idle rpm is at,
Q: I have a 2000 Honda Accord and the Tachometer bounces a bit, why?
I'll rev it up to 4000 like normal while driving, and when I brake it goes down normally to 1000 then bounces up to 1250 once or twice. There is no noticeable noise or increase/decrease acceleration, etc. What could be causing this and what can I do?
A: Down shifting in the gears is my guess.. and its just the opposite when you upshift, the needle goes down a bit.
Q: Why does the steering wheel in 2000 Honda Accord vibrate when I step on the break peddal, breaks are new?
Every time I press on the breaks, the steering wheel vibrates, I changed the breaks and it still does the same thing
A: Rotors are warped. Best to replace the rotors. Some people like turning them, but the more metal you remove, the less mass to cool and the faster they warp again.
Many foriegn manugfacturers don't even turn rotors anymore. They just replace them when the pads are needed.
This is the best practice for optimum brake performance.
Q: How do you replace a temperature sensor in a 2000 honda accord?
A: With tools and a repair manual
Q: I drive a 2000 Honda Accord - my car will not start and I think it is my fuel pump. How do I check the pump?
A: Disconnect the line, put some gas in a coffee can and see if it sucks it up.
Q: Timing belt- TIMING Marks on 2000 Honda accord Coupe?
Hi,
Question I have a 2000 Honda accord coupe 4 cynlindar. I have 89,000 miles on it and it is time to change the timing belt. DOes anyone know where i can go online or just know where the timing marks are gear marks. I know it should be under my hood but my car was hit my a truck a few months back and the body shop painted over the markings :(. Please help.
THanks
A: You would have to remove the timing belt cover on the front of the engine to see the timing belt and then you would simply install the new belt with the cam and crankshaft in the same position as when you take the old belt off. For $10, you can get any technical repair information you need online at
