Q: 2000 honda civic 1.6 litre sohc my manifold and catalytic?
2000 honda civic 1.6 litre sohc my manifold and catalytic are they one peice or two?
sorry, the exhaust manifold dude
A: what?
the intake manifold and catalytic converter are two separate pieces on EVERY car.
the manifold connects to the cat converter, which filters the exhaust gases, sends them into the exhaust pipe and out the rear of the car, but they are two different pieces.
that's like if i ask you:
"my tires and my rims, two separate pieces or one?"
have a great day! =)
Q: Why would my 2000 Honda Civic shake while accelerating?
I have a 2000 honda civic that shakes while my foot is on the accelerator at around 40 mph, but it stops shaking as soon as I take my foot off the pedal. What could this be and how much would it cost to get it fixed. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
A: Its bad motor mounts, I can almost guarantee it. That's why it only happens under heavy load (foot on throttle with transmission in gear). Worn motor mounts cause the engine to move excessively as torque is applied. The only other likely cause would be a bad CV axle but I don't think so in this case.
It is most definately NOT a tire, or a vacuum line or any of the rest of it. The symptoms are absolutely consistent with motor mounts but not any of those other things. A bad tire for example will vibrate any time you are moving, not just during acceleration.
Q: How do I remove the front brake rotors from a 2000 honda civic?
I have the master cylindar removed and the 2 screws that hold the rotor during assembly removed. Normally when I've done this on other cars the rotor practically falls off.
A: Some of the Hondas have 4 bolts that hold the rotor to the hub assembly if that is the case you need to remove the hub assembly by unbolting it from the inside after removing the axle and lower ball joint. If it has the 2 small screws that hold it to the hub you may be able to screw 2 bolts into the threaded holes in the rotor that may hold well enough to loosen it from the hub. After if that doesn't work the big hammer will do the work, and make you feel better also.
Q: how much will a new transmission for my 2000 honda civic cost?
Should I buy a new car instead if I was already planning on it in a year?
A: My 2001 civic transmission just went too but mine is under warranty thank god, but a manufactured transmission is between 4 and 5 thousand dollars..at least thats what my dealer said
Q: Why is the 1999-2000 Honda Civic SiR the most stolen vehicle in Canada?
And it has been this way for some years now. I'm a proud owner of a 1999 Civic SiR and this worries me every day. I was just wondering why it's the most stolen vehicle, and things I can do to protect myself from car theft.
A: dont forget...your in canada so when some one steals your car and strips it...they just post it up on ebay and sell it to the people in the states...
Q: Will a honda civic 2000 door fit a honda civic 2002 door?
I have a Honda Civic 2002 LX 4 door and i want to buy a Honda 2000 door for hatchback or coupe.
A: no the 02 style is different than the 00
Q: How hard is it to replace a timing belt on a 2000 Honda Civic?
I have not done any real work on cars for a number of years. The occational alternator and oil changes. I would like to know if I could pull off doing this timing belt thing on my own. Is there that much to it? Does it take any wierd tools? Or would it be easier to pay someone to do it. I have all the basic tools for regular maintenace. Does the car need to be re-timed when I am done?
A: Well it is a time consuming job, but not terribly difficult. As the engine is transverse mounted there is very little clearance in which to work and you have to be a little bit of a contortionist and have a reasoable number of adapters and extensions to get into the tight places. There may additionally be a couple of TORX fittings, though I cannot recall if Honda uses those in place of Allen fittings where flush mounted hands are required for clearance.
Also, as I recall, Honda recommends changing the water pump when you change the belt, as you have done most of the work to get access to it when you do a belt change and it would be a shame to have done all of that only to have to be back in there again should the water pump fail.
As to changing the belt, there are a couple of covers to remove and often some components are in the way. It varies from car to car, but it is not unusual to have to remove things like air filter housings, radiator reservoirs, windshield wiper tanks, and sometimes even starter motors and alternators. It just depends upon what you find in the way.
Any good Chilton's or Haynes manual will detail the procedure for changing the belt itself, and how to get the timing right when you do.
It is terribly important, of course, that the cam shaft and crank shaft pulleys remain in precisely the same relationship to one another that they are now in. If one rotates even a tooth out of the current relationship they car will run very poorly, if at all. Fortunately, Hondas are what are called "non-interference" engines, which means that even with a valve fully extended it can never get low enough to strike a piston when it is at the top of its range. Accordingly, if you get it wrong the worst that happens is that your car either will not run, or will run badly, but no internal damage to the valves or pistons will result. and then you will have to go back and recheck your timing marks.
On most cars you will have to remove the old belt before you can put the new one on, and so you will have to refer to the manual for aligning the timing marks. However, sometimes there is just enough room on the cam and crank pulleys to push the belt to the innner edge and slip on the edge of the new belt on the outer. If so, then timing is assured and one just takes a sharp blade, cuts off the old belt to get it out of the way, and then slides the new belt on the remainder of the way.
Now one other important thing to do is, after the new belt is in place, but before you have put everything else back together, you put a large wrench or socket and rachet on the crank shaft bolt and turn the engine over a few times, just to make sure it turns smoothly to assure that you have assembled it properly. Turning it over slowly will apply far less stress to the system if something is awry than would a starter motor.
Also, do not buy a cheap belt. Get the belt from the dealer. You may pay $15 or $20 more for it, but in that the far greater investment here is your time, as this can take a shade-tree mechanic several hours, it is not worth scrimping on a belt that may fail prematurely.
Q: How do you change the rear speakers in a 2000 honda civic the easiest way?
I want to change the rear speakers without taking the whole back panel of the car off and I wondered if this was possible.
A: Unfortunately there is no easy way. The factory time to replace the rear speakers is just under 2 hours so it will probably take you at least 3 hours to do it. The rear package shelf has to come out and to get that out the rear seat back, rear side (1/4 panel) trim panels (including rear seat belts I think) and the rear shelf side panels have to come out. there's no easy way to tell you how to do it. The rear shelf, 1/4 trim and side panels are held on by a variety of styles of clips that typically get broken when you try to pry the panel out.
unless you're comfortable taking the interior out of the vehicle, I'd advise taking it to the dealer and paying them to do it. That way if anything is damaged it will be on them to repair it to original conditon.
hope that helps
Q: How to change the driver side headlight in a 2000 Honda Civic?
I know this question has been asked and I get the actual procedure of it but its doing it that is the problem. I can get to the passenger side head light easy, the problem is that I have a power steering and wind shield wiper containers right next to the head light on the driver side. Is it safe to move these out of the way or is there any way to get to the light. Another person told me the best way is to remove the whole head light to get to the bulb. which involves removing the bumper. Please help.
A: the power steering reservoir should be just sitting in it's mount and you should be able to just pull it out of the mount and just enough out of the way to pull the rubber boot off the headlight assembly and you should be ready to change out your light bulb just be cure to remember how the original bulb was positioned in the headlight because you have to put it back in the same exact way. and whoever told you to pull the bumper off to change a fricken light bulb is an idiot! Honda isn't that stupid to make you take a bumper off to change a light bulb.
Q: Turn Signal Not Working on 2000 Honda Civic?
I recently just got Cindy, my 2000 Honda Civic, back from the body shop. She has a little bit of front end collision damage, and they needed to give her a new left headlight. It was working fine for a bit, but now whenever I try and put my left turn signal on, the blinker doesn't actually work, and the indicator on the dash goes on and off extremely rapidly.
Is there a quick fix for this, like a loose wire, or do I need to drive her all the way back to the shop on Monday to have her looked at?
A: its probably the bulb in it that's bad or it isn't making good contact, that too will also make it flash faster on the inside but not flash at all on the outside, good luck on it.
