Q: Should I change to a heavier than recommended oil for a high Mileage 2003 Honda Accord?
My 2003 Honda Accord has 95k miles. The recommended oil weight is 5w-20 for all seasons, but I was wondering if I should change to 5w-30 because it seems as though the engine makes more noise and doesn't run as smooth as it used to when new. I have always used Mobile1.
A: For a Honda, this is not high mileage, this is about mid range for this vehicle. I service a lot of them and 175,000 to 200,000 is very common with today's driving habits. As far a being a bit noisy, when was the last time you had the valve clearance checked? The other thought might be when was your last tune up? As far as the viscosity or weight as you call it goes. The original 5w-20 is still your best bet and will serve your needs. Also when they perform that tune up, have them put in a new PCV= positive crankcase ventilation valve. This way you will be sure to not be burning the crankcase oil fumes and confuse this for an oil burning engine. Good Luck
Q: Where is the starter/ starter solenoid in a 2003 Honda Accord?
I am trying to test the solenoid and the starter on my Honda Accord. When I turn the key, I hear a click, however the vehicle don't starts. Any help would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I do know what it is or what it looks like. This is for my wife's vehicle and I've never worked on it before. Thanks for your help
A: Solenoid is a thing in starter motor in use to move the pinion gear to engage the flywheel, it comes in cylinder form and placed right above the starter motor, it comes a unit with the starter motor. If the solenoids fail, you will heard a spinning sound from turning pinion gear but not engaging the flywheel. A click sound is sometimes cause by low power on the battery, loosen wire connection on battery and starter. At some rare case, the pinion engaging not right at flywheel teeth, so the click is sound of the pinion hit the flywheel. If this happen, on manual car you can do a push start a bit to turn the flywheel, on automatic car you have to turn the crankshaft to turn the flywheel, but this is a very rare case. To make simple, do a jump start and see is the engine run. If yes, it's only a low power.
Q: how much could i sell a honda accord 2003 rebuilt salvage but runs perfectly.?
i wanted to sell my car because im moving to canada and its gona cost too much to take it across. its 2003 honda accord lx. very clean but the title says rebuilt salvage. any idea on the cost??
A: the fact that its a salvage means nothing. plenty of people pay top dollar for a clean title car that was totaled anyway. due to an accident i owned 2 vehicles because one was totaled and i repaired it, took the rest of the money and bought another car, and my titles are clean. the only way a car is a salvage is if the owner decides to give the car to an insurance company as opposed to repairing the vehicle. i would go to any car rating website such as KBB.com and sell it for $1000 or so below the fair price. due to the fact that it has a rebuilt title it will be unattractive to a consumer in the beginning, but im sure once they drive the car and see it, they may be interested due to the low price. also it would be helpful if by any chance you show them the damage that led to the total loss or if it was a theft recovery. any receipts showing the repairs also may help.

Q: How can you fix a 2003 Honda Accord door lock?
I am purchasing my first car (used), and my top choice only has one problem, the front passenger side door won't lock/unlock when I use the keyless entry and the switches on the door. How can I fix it, how easy is it, and how much will it cost?
A: It could be that the rod came loose from the switches on the door, you may have a bad lock motor in that door as well, if you have to replace the motor your looking at around 45_ 60 bucks for the new lock motor. It's not hard to replace ,you just need to pull the door panelto get to it.
Q: How do i find the radio reset code on a 2003 honda accord?
I just bought a battery and then my stereo didn't work. I drive 50 miles to work round trip and it is boring without a radio please if you have any information let me know.
A: Have you called a Honda dealership to ask how one goes about finding the reset code? I found this site (attached) that charges a flat fee and they email you your code. I have no personal experience with this situation or with them to be able to vouch for or against them. The info does mention that their codes only work for US and Canada made Honda's.

Q: What kind of tires should I get for my 2003 Honda Accord EXVL?
I don't race my car and don't live where there is a lot of snow. I am partial to Micheilen tires, but not married to them. I currently have some type of Toyo tires.
A: If you read the manual it states that you should get the same exact size tires, if not then it could slow down your performance, mess up your suspension, and brakes.
I personally got the exact same tires, but got Michellin Destiny tires, with an 80K mile warranty. They are great and when I floor it I really don't peel out unless the cement is slick or wet.
Q: What is the function of a 02 Sensor in a 2003 Honda Accord?
The dealer is recommending that I replace it ($285). Can I do this myself? My car is running fine. What are the consequences of not replacing it?
A: If your car is mixing exactly the right amount of fuel to air, then you would have a complete burn.
Well the O2 (oxygen) sensor "sniffs" for excess or lack of oxygen in the exhaust. Depending on the amount (in %) of O2 found, your car's computer will made adjustment to fuel mixture. If you have a defective O2 sensor you can (a) get low MPG (b) fail emission testing (c) foul up catalytic converter

Yes this is fairly easy do it yourself job. Go to autozone and have them scan your ODBII. If you have more than one O2 sensor, they'll tell you which one.

Don't get thrown off by the BMW or 4X4. They are all about the same.
