Q: Is it normal for my 2007 Honda Civic 1.7L to seem to blow air out the oil cap when off?
My car only has 37000 miles on it, starts and runs fine, gets 30mpg no matter how rough I drive, but it seems like when the oil cap is off, it seems to smell very faintly of exhaust and seems to blow a tiny bit of air out. Is this just normal engine behavior for this type of engine? Is there an easy test to check this?

A: i dont think you have a problem as most cars to day will push a small ammount of air out . basically, you dont take off the oil cap unless its stopped however if you are worried about it it still should be under warranty so just drive it back to the dealer and get them to check it out

Q: Can a 2007 Honda Civic make it to Yosemite National Forest in mid February?
We are concerned that we will need to rent a 4wd to make it through the snow but don't want to if we don't have to.

A: although I have no realy proof, the honda Civic is one of the top rated cars out there (consumer reports). I live by what they say about the cars. I would look in one of the Car buying editions and see what it says about high terrain. I would trust it regardless.

Q: My 2007 honda civic coupe makes a funny noise when I brake suddeny. Is something wrong with it?
More like a funny "feeling". Almost like crunching when I press on the brakes. Thanks, guys. I'm pretty sure it's my ABS.

A: do you have Antilock Brake system? ABS? When you step on the brakes quickly on ABS, the brakes will stammer

Q: How can i put a spoiler on my 2007 Honda civic Ex?
The only thing i have heard is to buy a trunk and spoiler of an SI. Even then how do i buy that?

A: www.handa-accessories.com installation instructions are there too.

Q: What is the life expectancy of the brakes on a 2007 Honda Civic?
Mine made a strange metal grinding noise that sounded like construction going on, when I was breaking slowly on a dirt road, I deliver pizzas mind you. I heard a rock getting caught in the brakes will make the sound.

A: You will have to have them checked. Driving habits and town driving have alot to do with it. I have a 2001 GMC that has 90,000 miles and still has the original brakes on it. So if you have a grinding noise best have it checked because the longer you drive it that way the more it will cost to repair.....UJN

Q: What kind of problems can occur when you drive a 2007 Honda Civic over a very high curb?
The car seems to have a slight vibration/jerkiness since it was driven over the curb. However, it is not out of alignment.

A: you probably broke a steel belt in the tire. it will eventually get worse if you did. this gives the tire enough of a bump on the tread that you can feel it while you are driving.

Q: How do I remove the back seat of my 2007 Honda Civic?
I recently bought a new set of seat covers. I need to remove the back seat (both the actual seat and the back rest) to properly install the covers. I found two latches at the front and bottom of the seat which allows me to raise the cushion but i can't figure out how to completely detach the seat cushion. The back rest, I can't figure out how to detach it. Help please. Thanks in advance.

A: For the bottom cushion, there is a bolt on the passenger side, inbetween the passenger seat and the the center seat. You will need a 6 inch extension on a socket wrench to reach it, I believe it is a 12mm. Once you remover this bolt, the seat cushions will just lift out. For the back portion, this will be a little more complicted. Once the bottom cushion is removed, you will see the bar that attaches the bottom of all the seat backs. You have the side of the seat that folds down 60% of the seat, and the portion that fold down 40%. Remover the bolt on the right side of the 60% portion, then the bolt on the left side of the 60% portion. Then remover the bolt on the left side of the 40% portion, and it will slide out. I might be a little off on the removal of the seat backs. Its been a couple months since I have removed them. Once you get the seat bottoms off, you should be able to look at the bar that holds it all together an figure it out fairly easily. It isnt really that complicated.

Q: How can I update the gps navigator on my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid?
There are some newer roads that don't show up on the road map.

A: Contact your dealer directly and they can sell you a new set of Nav CD's. I haven't priced them lately but I'm thinking about $250 for the set. (there are no aftermarket companies I am aware of that sell the upgrades any cheaper) If your car is an 07 I would hold off for a year to a year and a half because it does take time for the newer roads to be entered in. In fact, where we live it is growing so quickly it would be impossible to keep up with the road building.

Q: What performance upgrades should I add to my 2007 Honda Civic SD to get the most balanced perfomance.?
I also want to know how extreme I can be with the upgrades, without casing damage.

A: None. That car should have enough performance for use in pretty much any traffic condition you can get into. I see no need to reduce reliability or void the warranty just to rice it out.

Q: What kind of rims should i get on my 2007 honda civic , its silver and what size?
i was thinking of going with 18's. also i am trying to stay away from chrome because i dont want to get to heavy what do u mean 2 to 3 peice wheels?

A: 18"s arent big but still heavy for your car. even downsizing to 17"s would make a big difference. plus a 2 or 3 piece wheel will keep the weight down while still maintaining strength. look into Enkei rims, they look good on imports and are light weight and offer 2-3 piece rims

Q: What do you guys think of the 2007 honda civic?
Im thinking of buying this car, what do you guys think? Btw its the 2 door one.

A: I have a 2006 honda civic 2 door and I love it. I got the stick shift...if you dont know how to drive stick, you should learn. Its so fun to drive..and it feels faster than an automatic. They are super reliable... I have owned civics in the past and never had any problems. I will never buy any other car. They get great milage and look good too. Good luck!!

Q: What is wrong with my 2007 Honda Civic's air conditioning?
Every once in awhile there will be a day when my air conditioning will not work at all. I took it to the dealership and of course it was on a day when the A/C was working and they ran their tests on it and found nothing wrong. My car is only 10 months old and has less than 7500 miles so it shouldn't be acting this way. Please hep!

A: Where do you live? Could be getting too hot for the A/C to cool down the outside air, does the recirculate work? Edit: Just thought about this after I posted. I worked on a friends highlander that had the same problem, turned out the temperature knob was loose causing it to not make continuity all the time. Just an idea

Q: Does a spoiler look good on a 4dr 2007 honda civic?
I wanted to buy one to make my car look nicer but but im not sure exactly if it will look good or not. Can anyone give any suggestions of any nice looking spoilers out there if any? Thanks!

A: Rather than getting a large wing (clearly problematic on a front-wheel-drive car), have you considered getting one similar to that for the Civic Si? If you find one that's similar to this factory spoiler, you may be able to cut drag a bit while still improving the looks. This will give you a sporty look without making the car look vulgar. The Si wing looks like this: http://gallery.carreview.com/data/car/532/medium/honda_civic13.JPG See the link below for an example.

Q: Would teen car insurance be expensive for a 2007 honda civic hybrid?
I am a new driver with good grades and took drivers ed. Will the year of the car affect my insurance rates? Would another car be cheaper? Would being on my parents policy be less as opposed to having my own?

A: You can only speculate on it, the way to know is to research it by taking quotes off the sites, it's free to do and you won't have nasty surprises whet it comes to ACTUALLY having to pay for it. This is a place where I go to as they are quick: http://www.car-insurance.moneysavecenter.com/a/1.html?id=ap322

Q: Can the readiness code for the 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid be entered manually?
My owner's manual says that "if the battery has been disconnected or gone dead, these (readiness codes) are erased. It takes at least three days of driving under various conditions to set the codes again." What are the various condition needed to reset the code? (if I can't enter the code manually as we can do in our other car.)

A: they are not codes it is readiness "status" and the only way to set them is manually by driving the car. you can't turn readiness status off and on with a scanner.Readiness status is achieved when all the monitoring systems of the vehicle have completed their checks of the system and have found no errors. Some older cars you do this by cycling the ignition key a certain number of times. but on newer cars there are so many sensors and parameters for these sensors that have to be met before the monitoring system declares it as "Ready" What i would is drive the car for an hour straight and take it through all driving conditions" Stop and Go", Highway speeds and then let it idle for a little bit. It more than likely doesn't take days to reset although I could be wrong but my experience with these systems is that they will reset with 30 minutes to an hour of driving.
