Q: How do I restore the yellow paint on my Volkswagen Lupo?
I have a 2002 Volkswagen Lupo that I have recently bought. The paintwork is faded in places and I thought it would be easy to find products to restore this with - how wrong I was!
I need to find a yellow paint restorer and (ideally) a yellow paint chip repair kit. Can anyone recommend one or know of an alternative product?
A: Detailed a lot of cars!! A good buffer and buffing compound has always worked for me!!!
Q: The vehicle to undergo the greatest change in velocity will be the Volkswagen, why?
A Mack truck and , a Volkswagen, traveling at the same speed have a head- on collision. The vehicle to undergo the greatest change in velocity will be the Volkswagen, why?
A: the easiest way to answer is that the mack truck weighs nearly 10 times more then the volkswagen. to put it simple regardless of either vehicles speed the mack truck has greater inertial force and will continue in it's path of motion while the volkswagen will completely stop forward motion and then continue in the path of the mack trucks inertia.
hope that helps
Q: What does the EPC warning light mean on a Volkswagen?
My girlfriend just phoned me and said there's a warning light that has just come up on her dash that says EPC, she has a Volkswagen Fox.
Any ideas what this could be?
A: EPC actually stands for Electronic Power Control (Straight from the VW workshop manual)
It refers to the drive-by-wire system and any faults with the throttle pedal, throttle body, traction control, cruise control, even the MAF will on occasion trigger the light.
It's also known for a stuck brake light switch to do this. Some brake light switches have two pairs of contacts in them, one for the engine and one for the brake lights.
If changing the brake light switch doesn't cure it then you will need to get a VAGCOM scan of the engine controller.
Q: How much would a paint job cost on a volkswagen beetle?
I really would like to buy a volkswagen beetle.
I saw a white one for a good price.
How much would it cost to paint it light pink the whole car.?
A: To have a quality shop do it around $1500 Without a lot of body work.
Q: Where can I find a list of employees at Volkswagen of America in Detroit?
I need to find a list with the email contact info and title of people that are employed by Volkswagen of America in Detroit. I have found a few names through LinkedIn and another source, but need more. Any solid ideas?
A: Employee listings and email addresses are not public records so I doubt you will be able to find this information. In fact, unless the person is a high level officer, this is generally considered confidential HR info.
You may be able to get names and contact info of the corporate officers from their website. Other than that, call the company and ask. Bribe some employee to send you a company directory.
Q: What type of engine should I get in a Volkswagen?
I have been looking at a used Volkswagen Passat and I am not sure whether to get one with a 4 cylinder engine of 6 cylinder engine. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I would like the car to be worth the money and not be in the shop all the time. What should I get?
A: I would stay AWAY from Passats. Unless you like repairing your car constantly. Valve cover gaskets, CV boots, Upper links, and Tie rod ends fail all the time. And they are more expensive to do maintainence on...To do the Timing belt - The whole front bumper has to come off the car and it has to be put in SERVICE position.
Jetta / GTI 2.0 - slow, realible
Jetta / GTI 1.8T - upgradable power, more problems than 2.0
Jetta / GTI VR6 - Fast bone stock, barely any problems if maintained.
Q: How do I remove the dash switches on an old air cooled Volkswagen Beetle?
How do I remove the dash switches on an old air cooled Volkswagen Beetle?
I need to rewire the switches on my 1970 Volkswagen Beetle, and am trying to remove the switches from the dash. Is there anyway to remove the knobs without damaging them, and if so, how do I remove the switch one the knob is off?
A: Got to get at it from the back side of the dash board.

A: just keep watching TV
Q: If I own a Volkswagen, do I have to go to a certified/dealer for maintenence?
I am looking into buying a volkswagen jetta, passat or GTI years 02-05. Since Volkwagen is an entry-level premium brand, do I have to go to a certified repair shop or dealer for maintainence? Kinda like BMW and others? I want to purchase a car that I can get oil changes wherever I want to or other maintenence and repairs.
Thanks!
A: As the purchaser of the vehicle, you can do whatever you'd like with it. You can drive it into a wall if you'd like. Finding someone who knows how to work on a Volkswagen properly is not always the easiest thing to do. Basic maintenance items such as an oil change, air filter, pollen filter, tire rotation, spark plugs, etc. should be able to be performed properly by any certified technician.
The problem comes with parts.Volkswages are engineered with very exacting tolerances. For instance, if you do not use the EXACT right spark plugs, the car will lose performance and possibly pick up a misfire. Volkswagen also has oil requirements, which make it difficult to get a proper oil change at a quick oil change shop. As it's not specified in the owner's manual, the years you're looking at should use synthetic oil, VW spec 502 (came from the factory with Castrol Syntec). If you're buying a turbo motor, this is VERY important for the life of your engine. Purchasing quality and proper parts is going to be your biggest thing. The proper spark plugs for my 2004 VW are about $17 each and there's 6 of them. But I know if I run $5 plugs from Auto Zone, my car's not going to run right.
When you find the car you end up purchasing, if you're lucky enough to get the owner's manual, there is an insert of volkswagen's recommended maintenance schedule. This is very broad and does not always fit the living conditions of the car. If you live in a large city with a lot of stop and go traffic, I recommend doing your oil changes sooner than volkswagen's recommended increment of 5000 miles. In dusty areas, your air and pollen filters will have to be replaced more often (aftermarket filters can cause problems too). Just use logic.
Q: How do I disengage the alarm system on my 2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS?
Hey there, I have a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS. Here is my problem: my alarm system keeps going off on its own when i start my car or when the passenger door is opened. My automatic key was stolen, and i have no way of shutting the alarm off until it stops by itself after 30 seconds. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what I can do to fix this problem or how to disengage the alarm system? I am grateful for your help.
A: you have a problem with one of your door latch. The way you can figure it out is: turn the dome light on position door open, Close all door and then open the door one by one. If the dome light doesn't turn on, the latch is the problem. If the dome turns on the latch is okay. On your car the alarm is part of the body Comfort system and cannot be disengaged. I hope this will help. Replacing the latch is another problem too and I don't recommend you to do it yourself.
Q: Is it difficult to get repairs done on a new Volkswagen beetle?
I want to get a new Volkswagen beetle (preferably a 2000-2003 model). But my uncle says that is is very hard to get work/repairs done on them. I don't know if this is true, but it kinda seems unlikely. But I need some legit proof that this is either true or not true. Thanks!
A: if the mechanics you go to only know how to fix a ford or chev yeah then it is hard to get it fixed by them. But, I don't go to a domestic mechanic to fix an imported car. my Ferrari you no touch. I am pretty sure there is more than just hammer mechanics in your town. Seeing VW has been in NA since the mid 50's there are a quite a few garages that know how to fix them. Still with the newer ones, I would go to VW dealer just because they have the parts at hand. The other places order the parts from the dealer and then add "their overhead" for using the phone to get the part onto the price.
Q: What type of speakers do I need for my 2000 Volkswagen Golf 2 door?
I want to install new speakers for my 2000 volkswagen golf, and I do not know what size I need. What kind of aftermarket speakers will give me awesome bass? My speakers now do not have much bass. Thanks!
A: Front and rear speakers are 6 3/4". If you have $450 to spend on 2 sets of component speakers then I would suggest on getting 2 sets of Elemental Designs e9.65i, they sound amazing. The rattle every inch of the door, and that is after the door is sound deadened. But they are great speakers. They can handle the delivery of mid bass from any style of music you may listen to. With out my sub installed it sounds like I have a small sub installed when I do not.
Q: How can I get a glass rear window to replace the broken one on a 1985 volkswagen convertible car?
My back window got shattered by a BB gun and now I need a replacement window so I can fix it. It is a 1985 volkswagen cabriolet convertible, 2 door, 4 speed. I would prefer to get one from a junk yard or atleast really cheep if I could.
Thanks for any help I can get,
Dennis
A: your best bet is to go to an auto upholstery shop that does convertable tops. if your window zippers in it is not difficult to replace but if it is a bonded unit the entire rear half of the top will have to be removed to replace the rear panel ( also called rear curtain).
Q: What is the starting salary for a service advisor with Volkswagen in the UK?
Job is advertised as salary variable but I'd like to know what the salary is before applying so if anyone working for Volkswagen knows the answer to this, thanks!
A: ! i work in a vw dealership i think our guys get about £19000 annual salary, but to be honest i wouldn't touch that job with a bargepole ,the amount of grief you get is unbelievable ,iam sure Mike from previous answer would agree.
Q: Where can I buy a Volkswagen T1, refurbished or otherwise?
I'm looking to but a Volkswagen T1, the iconic hippy camper. Where would be the best place to buy? I haven't had much luck finding a seller in Ireland (I'm based there) so where would people recommend? I'm interested in fully refurbished vehicles or very basic shells in need of some care! Thanks.
A: Few people know that the classic Volkswagen Camper Van is still available to buy today, brand new, built in Brazil. The current camper van has had many upgrades along the years and no longer uses it air-cooled engine. The VW Camper is still more popular than ever with customisers.

You can still find the original, used, but they are getting very expensive to buy if they are the least bit good.
Accessories...lots of places for those. http://www.justkampers.com/
