Q: How much is the cost of front shocks for a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?
I was thinking about buying a 2002 Jetta, however, they said it will need front shocks... Around how much would that be? Is it worth buying to have to do that repair?

A: Good ones are about 120.00 a piece...Yes...

Q: What size muffler should i get for my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?
I have a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T. I'm looking to buy just a new muffler for it, not a whole new exhaust system. And i dont know what size inlet i should be looking for. The car currently has its stock muffler on it. It has two pipes coming out of one muffler. And yeah im just looking for my inlet size. Any help is appreciated, thanks

A: The stock exhaust on your 1.8T is 55mm, which is 2.17". You're not going to be able to find a non-OEM muffler with this inlet size, so what most people do is buy an aftermarket muffler with a more common 2.25" inlet and expand the stock exhaust piping to overlap.

Q: will a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta last as long as a 1998 Honda Civic?
i am looking at purchasing either a 2002 Jetta with 121000km on it or perhaps a 1998 Honda Civic Si with 107000-137000km which one will last longer?

A: Generally a Civic will be more reliable, but it really depends on how hard it's been driven and how well it's been maintained. Because Si's are the "performance" trim of the Civic line, make sure it hasn't been abused or constantly red-lined by the previous owner. Such habits put more stress on a car's internals. Jettas are "lower strung" which can mean that the owner is as well. Obviously this isn't always the case, so just make sure you take a good look at both and request maintenance histories.

Q: Where can I find an online illustration of a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta engine?
I have a busted hose and I am trying to figure out what it is and what it does. Any help?

Q: How do you install a lower radiator hose for a 2002 Volkswagen jetta?
My car and engine is still overheating after I put water or antifreeze coolant in it. There is a leak in the lower radiator hose how do I install it?

A: Buy the hose and new hose clamps and more coolant and use a screwdriver to install.

Q: How much would insurance be on a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?
16 year old male. I do get some kind of discount because I went through Driver's ed.

A: At 16 your only real option is being added to your parents policy. Have them call and ask, and you will get an exact answer.

Q: 2002 Volkswagen Jetta Rattling Sounf?
I've been getting a rattling sound in my 2002 Jetta GLS 2.0. I can see what it is from the front right wheel when I look under the car. A black plastic cover covering what I think looks like the engine belt is loose and make a sound everytime it hits the metal plate. Has anyone had this experience? See but its not the belt, its black plastic cover like thing thats rattling.

A: Loose engine belts usually squeak on you. Could be something else.

Q: I have a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T. The cloth headliner is falling off. How can I get it replaced?
The cloth headliner in the interior ceiling of the car is falling off. It's starting to look gay, and every day it keeps looking worse. How do I go about getting it replaced? Do I have to go to the dealership or what? How much would it cost? And, will the same factory cloth be available?, so that it will match the rest of the car.

A: This is a real problem and big expense for the VW Jettas and Golfs. The cost of a new headliner is high and hardley worth the coin. You may be better off taking the car to an auto upholstrey shop and letting them replace the material with a new material, giving you a more custom look and better quality material that will last longer than the OEM version.

Q: Is a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Turbo Sedan 4D a good car?
i was looking at them online and am thinking about purchasing one. are they a good car? ive heard good and bad things about them. please tell me about a personal experience with them if you have had one before.

A: Yeah just about anything stamped with a VW is good. Be careful buying one that old though the Turbo charges tend to go out around 70,000 - 75000 miles and can be very costly to fix. VWs are a German car and the Germans are brilliant engineers they give us brands such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, and Audi. Audi btw is also made by VW. I know several people who own Jettas and love them to death. When I was a car salesman I always tried to get a Jetta for a demo car. Also the keys for the car are pretty darn cool.

Q: Pirelli NeroZero tires for 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?
I want to upgrade the tires on my 2002 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T and the Neros are in my price range and I really like them but they have a higher load rating which might result in a rougher ride. Will it really make that much of a difference?

A: looks like a good tyre to me. all the load rating means is that it can be used with heavier cars.

Q: Will a Britax Roundabout fit into a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?
Just want to make sure before I purchase the car seat.

A: The roundabout is supposed to fit in almost every car out there . . . while the Marathon fits front facing in most vehicles but cars with smaller back seats might have an issue with it rear-facing. Many stores will allow you to try it out in your car for fit before purchase using a demo model - my local Babies R Us did that for us. You can also use the www.carseatdata.com fit guide - here is a link: http://www.carseatdata.org/search

Q: What might cause 2002 Volkswagen Jetta to shake?
My daughter who is away at college called to say that she was sitting at a red light in her 02 Jetta and it just started shaking. She drove it back to her dorm and said the "check engine" light is flashing off and on and when she got out she smelled a smell of something burning. What could this be and will it be dangerous for her to drive it to the closeset VW dealerhship that is 70 miles away?

A: I would tow the car to the dealer, whether its a misfire, blown head gasket or some kind of overheating issue, driving it will cause more damage and a higher repair bill in the end. Flashing check engine light is not good, usually means a misfire.

Q: How do you set the clock on the instrument panel of a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta?

A: There should be a small knob next to the clock. Turn the know and hold it to the left to set the hour. Turn the knob and hold it to the right to set the minutes.

Q: where is the transmission fluid located on a 2002 volkswagen jetta?

A: The transmission is sealed on your Jetta. There is no trans dipstick. The only way to check the fluid level is by lifting the car and removing the check plug, with the engine running. The car must still be level, so you will need a lift. If the oil slowly flows out it is at the right level. If it pours out, it is overfilled. If no fluid comes out it is under filled. They use the same trans as found in older Audi models.
